About me

Debby Hallett, coach, consultant and writer

in Oxford, in the world

14 interesting things about me:

1.    My BA is in Psychology.

2.    My MA is in Consciousness Studies; the integral world of Ken Wilber has had a big effect on my life.

3.    I’ve been involved in transformational development for over 20 years.

4.    I’ve worked in IT for over 30 years, for such companies as Textron, CitiGroup, and Blackwell Publishing.

5.    I’ve worked in a wide variety of roles and jobs, from delivering newspapers to designing international banking systems, from Disneyland to CitiGroup, from grocery deli counter to manufacturing office manager.

6.    Currently, I do some work as a consultant in the field of adult psychological development.

7.    I have one daughter, who lives in the USA with her husband and their 2 daughters.

8.    I’m originally from California. I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the OC. My daughter and I lived in the OC as well, until we each left in the early 1990s. She headed to Wisconsin, I headed to the San Francisco bay area.

9.    I met my husband online, back when that was pretty much unheard of. We married in 1997 and I moved to the UK.

10.   I’ve come though redundancy, divorce and depression, and I’ve successfully quit smoking.

11.    I’m certified to deliver the Leadership Agility 360 assessment, and the Leadership Development Framework.

12.    I’ve been a single mother and gone to graduate school as a mature student.

13.    I’ve had a soul retrieval, past life regression, and walked on live coals.

14.    And I’m a qualified personal development coach.

    Debby,

Thanks so much for initiating this conversation! It seems that we have many overlapping interests and I look forward to participating in this exploration with you. I’m one of the core organizers of the Integral NYC Salon and I’m in the final semester of NYU-Poly’s MS OB program. Also, I don’t know many people who are familiar with Belbin’s Team Role Theory, Wilber’s AQAL model, the MBTI AND the Enneagram, so I’ll be very interested to see how we might go about connecting the dots!

It sounds like you’ve been on an extraordinary journey and I’m glad to see that you’ve created a space where you can share your wisdom and experience with us.

    @ Barbara
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my brand new blog, Barbara! I haven’t really told anyone about it yet. I’m curious: how did you find me? It’s so new that I didn’t have Categories or Tags displayed until just now. I only put up the About Me page yesterday!

Yes, it looks like you and I have some things in common. I’m part of the London Integral Circle, and the Oxford Integral Circle.

My plan is to post stuff regularly for several weeks, and THEN tell my friends and connections about it. But now that I know others are peeking, I’ll be more careful about what I stick up here.

I’ll also take requests. I find the Type info is all over the place on the internet, so the particular challenge will be to make the Stage stuff (Wilber’s AQAL, Kegan and Torbert’s models) as simple as I can do.

    Thanks!
    Debby

    You are clever!

    Hi Katie,
Thanks for coming to visit! I just now learned how to begin to manage comments, and reply to you when you leave one for me.
    Quite a learning curve!
Hope to see you here again.
    Thanks!
    Debby

    Hi Debby,

I subscribe to Google alerts, so any time Ken Wilber’s name is mentioned in a blog or in a news article, I receive a link to that story in my in box. It’s a great service and it has provided me with lots of little gems over the years!

So that’s how I came across your new blog, Stages & Types. :-)
